5 out of 5 stars Incredible. I wish I'd been there   November 5, 2008
I. A. Wright (Didcot, Oxon, England)
One of the first things we experience on this wonderful DVD is Katherine Jenkins' sense of humour, natural warmth, and un-diva-ish personality, which shine through the whole performance. And talk about pride in being Welsh! :-) Good for her! This DVD is a treat from beginning to end. Wonderful picture quality; super sound; and then there are Katherine Jenkins, Juan Diego Florez, Serendipity, and the National Symphony Orchestra, all giving of their best. Fantastic!

For three of the Extras, just close your eyes and listen--the picture quality is truly abysmal, but that voice, that voice....

4 out of 5 stars Katherine comes home   July 23, 2008

The venue of course is Wales, Margam Park, and this 75 minute edition of Katherine's homecoming nicely promotes her Rejoice album which was also released in 2007.

The songs are a mix of Rejoice hits plus concert favourites, and Katherine provides plenty of audience chat, and of course those giggles, to make this a comfortably familiar and entertaining experience. Good sound, plenty of camera angles, a few extras (four extra songs recorded previously) make this an excellent KJ experience.

High points are a `Delilah' good enough to please fellow Welshman Tom Jones, a lovely duet with Juan Diego Florez of the popular `La Donna e mobile', and an emotional `Requiem for a Soldier' tribute to the war casualties of recent years.

Funny are the pink boots combined with THAT white dress of the 2007 tour, while the other `frocks' (in her words) get better as the night progresses. The familiar are of course the obligatory `Time to say Goodbye' and the timeless `We'll Meet Again' fully deserving the standing ovation it received.

The finale is predictable, the Welsh national anthem is sung with the Welsh flag draped over her shoulders, which makes the audience tearfully patriotic and the rest of the world jealous!

3 out of 5 stars Picture quality   January 20, 2008

A previous reviewer had doubts regarding the picture quality, and I think he is right. Perhaps it is due to the fact that the TV set has to do an NTSC to PAL conversion, and something is lost in the conversion process.
Why have the makers not given us a PAL version? Nevertheless there is much to enjoy on this DVD. T Powell

5 out of 5 stars Picture quality below par?   December 29, 2007

A beautiful performance, but (in my opinion and based on results from my DVD player) the picture quality is not as good as the original TV transmission, and lacks clarity. Perhaps this is because the DVD has been issued in NTSC format instead of PAL. The performance was recorded in the UK (Margam Park in Wales) so why use NTSC when our own PAL system could have produced better quality pictures? Perhaps the producers could issue a second edition in PAL!

5 out of 5 stars "A pleasure to watch and listen"   December 2, 2007

I agree with the two previous reviews. Katherine is a class apart from anything "Singing Wales" can offer, has a good sense of humor and is a pleasing personality. The first DVD "Live at Llangollen" was a joy to watch. "Katherine in the Park" is even more enjoyable as well are the extras. Having lived in North Wales, does not mean I am Welsh, neither I wished I was Welsh, but I like the country and the people. Do I have to say more......
