HP C5280 Printer January 8, 2009 T. I. Smith (uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having come from Epson 9400 which used ink in no time, i read the reviews some were good some not so good. I decided to order one from Amazon, it arrived two days later. what a Strong well built printer this is , i found it easy to set up no problems what so ever, even put it on my home network very easy to understand the printer is so quiet compared to the Epson, scanner is a bit loud but for what i use it for it doesnt bother me,the ink lasts ages and you can buy extra large ones that last three times as long. All in all this is a great user friendly printer, well made and looks good , and i can highly recommend
VISTA USERS BEWARE December 29, 2008 sonnychiba1 (UK, Luton) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
After 3 days I've finally given up. The drivers can only be installed via the HP website and not the disk provided. Whilst the printer is technically installed and good to go, installing the software is a different story altogether due to it all being supplied on the same cd. It just will not install on Vista. Sadly the software on the HP website is actually the same as the disc so you end up with the same ongoing problem. 3 days of my life have been wasted on this attractive piece of junk. I'm off to buy an Epson as I've never had a problem with their software or printers before. So if restarting your computer over and over again is your idea of fun go for it. If not then avoid!
HP good but December 28, 2008 Mrs. Jackie Mcgarry (donaghadee) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
i think HP is excellent but it is more for an office or someone with a larger desk than mine and I need to sell it so if anyone in n. ireland near donaghadee, newtownards or bangor co. down wants one they can buy it

Superb December 25, 2008 Mr. T. G. Thomas (United Kingdom) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this on the recommendation of the internet and I am so pleased that I bought it. The set up was very easy and very good. The only problem is the availability of cheap ink. Come on HP please cheapen your inks.
Good printer, shame about the software? December 3, 2008 Baz 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
On the plus side, I'm very impressed with the colour match when printing images. This is my third HP printer and it doesn't disappoint in this department. As a keen amateur photographer this is understandably very important when printing off the odd photograph. I've had no problems so far this printer communicating with Photoshop CS3 for printing and scanning. The photocopy facility works fine, menus easy to follow; everything I've come to expect from HP. It's not broken down on me and continues to work even when the colour cartridge is empty, something that Epsom printers don't do, or didn't used to do.
As for the negatives, it does go through ink very quickly. Not sure if this is down to the printer or HP making the cartridges smaller; after all, it's the ink where these companies make their money with printers.
It's interesting reading the reviews of the difficulties some people have had with this printer, and it seems to relate to the software. I have this printer running on my Mac (running OS X 10.5.5) and HP PC (running Vista). My printer did come with Mac software but I downloaded the latest version from HP; so far, no problems. However, come to my PC and I'm screaming. I'm not sure whether this is a HP or Vista problem but whenever I run my PC without the printer connected, the next time I come to run my PC with the printer connected my PC wants to re-install the HP printer driver and software. The HP printer software boots up, I decline all options (because it's already installed on my PC) and yet I still goes on to re-install the software. This leaves me with multiple copies of the driver in my printer manager.
Should you buy this? Well I think the printer itself is good, if a bit thirsty. But there does seem to be a software issue. I've not had the same problems others have had and I tend to point the finger more at Vista, as it's a dreadful piece of software, but I've still had problems nonetheless. I will still stick with HP in the future.
