My computer arrived with the CPU fan power cable incorrectly fitted. The assembler had put the 4-pin socket over only 3 of the pins on the motherboard. As a result, the CPU fan didn't work, and the CPU kept overheating. The computer intermittently switched itself off until I spotted the problem. I fixed it myself since it was simply a matter of putting the cable on properly. I'm hoping there's no permanent damage to any components.
Hopefully it was just a cock-up by an inexperienced assembler, but still very unprofessional that no one checked it.
Other than that it seems ok. Just the expected struggle to get old programs working with Windows Vista.
