Rubbish!!! December 30, 2008 Jedrzej (London) I had this headphones for over a year and now I need to buy another one because those get broken and I'm not giving creative another chance. I haven't damage them they are simply poorly made and one of the cables is now broken. Lack of volume controler on the cable is a downside for me as well.
Paid 40L for them and assumed they should last for at least 3 years.
If you are happy with spending 30-40L on something that won't last 2 years: - noise canceling is quite good on a plane and on a tube worked very well - sound quality is good unless you need strong bass
Let down for a second time.... December 9, 2008 S. Reid I've never left a review before, and always judged some people's opinions as being quite harsh, but now I know exactly where they're coming from.
I've now owned two pairs of Aurvanas. The first I found very comfortable, great sound quality, and generally a good price for what they were. Overall, I was a content, happy customer. After a couple of months, treating them fairly roughly (as I tend to do with everything), eventually the plug/wire connector developed a problem. It seemed through my treatment it had broken a wire inside, which intermittently resulted in headphones working if I had the cable in *just* the right position, but a frustration none the less. Eventually I gave up blaming and punishing myself, and bought a second pair.
This time, I was determined to look after them. Everything was fine for about three months, until last Saturday, when they developed exactly the same problem.
It seems the wire connection into the plug is very poorly designed. I've now had two pairs of Aurvanas develop the same fault, regardless of how well or poorly I treat them.
If you want headphones that sound great, buy these. If you want something that lasts and also sounds great, then don't buy these. I've always been a fan of Creative gear (all the way back to their original computer soundcards) but alas no more!! I'll never buy from them again.
I've just 5 minutes ago bought Sennheiser CX380 earphones, which promise to be more durable (you can even rinse them in water). Fingers crossed.
Beautiful level of detail, but too loud November 22, 2008 14th Annual Review Steering Committee (England, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
With these earphones, you have to be very careful about the volume if you want to avoid damaging your hearing. Whatever you connect them to, the lowest volume setting is adequate and above half volume is deafening. Compared with other headphones I sometimes get a mildly uncomfortable feeling of pressure in my ear canals. This is something to do with the design of the speakers and not with the external shape of the ear-buds.
There is certainly an extra layer of detail to the sound which you don't get with a cheaper set of earphones. The sound insulation is so good I sometimes don't even hear the phone ringing two feet away from me. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the Creative Aurvana ear-phones because of the pain they can sometimes cause.
Sound - 10 Durability - 0 October 27, 2008 Dennis M (North Yorkshire) Got these as a christmas present, was very pleased with the sound quality, noise cancelling works brilliantly on noisy aeroplanes, buses etc. However, after only 2 and a half months of use they packed up, the jack plug only picks up certain bits of the sound in certain positions so if you move your iPod/mp3 player just the slightest bit, it cuts out. Disappointed after promising start.
Good Sound but... October 8, 2008 Mr. M. Turner (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have owned the creative headphones for a little over 6 months now; Positive points: Good sound Good Isolation Nice Design Good selection of comfortable plugs
Negative points Cable noise - there is a great deal of interferance when wearing the headphones under clothing as the wire knocks against the material Build Quality - although at first glance the headphones look to be a good quality, my headphones developed an annoying crackle fairly quickly and have now broken beond use after just over 6 months. This is most likely due to not keeping them in the case but I can see the problem developing after time even if the case is utilised for storage and transport.
I have since purchased the Shure E2C for a bargain at 24.99 + P&P, I would recommend these oevr the Creative for both sound quality and build. There is no cable noise and the connection appears to be of a much greater build quality.
