5 out of 5 stars GTM 21 TMC Traffic receiver - works for me   September 27, 2008

I use the GTM 21 TMC Traffic receiver with my nuvi 760 and it works great. Don't expect to be receiving notifications unless there's a jam up ahead, but when there is, its great. I can absolutely recommend it for the 760 when used in the UK.

If your Garmin GTM 21does not receive Trafficmaster ,Check with UK Garmin tech support, they can talk you through identifying the GTM21 serial # and then will tell you whether yours actually has the free licence with it
If the cable was not destined for the uk it will not have the free licence .The cable will connect with the
pigtail folded up so if you cannot receive traffic it is unlikely to be reception ,contact Garmin for them to check if you have a uk cable
Good luck
If all fails you can buy the licence for $60 from Garmin US site

1 out of 5 stars Would be good if it worked all the time   August 4, 2008

The traffic information is very useful when it is received, but reception is non-existent for over 50% of my most common journeys around the Midlands and south of England, even near large conurbations. Garmin's recommendations re siting of the thin aerial wire have not achieved any improvement. A replacement unit featured the same problems with lack of reception. The unit cannot be relied on to provide information when and where required, so a waste of money.

3 out of 5 stars Depends on the windscreen   April 4, 2008

I used a Garmin 660 with this traffic receiver in an old Toyota Corolla for almost a year with excellent results. Traffic information regularly received and numerous holdups avoided.

When the Toyota finally curled up its toes, I switched to a (slightly) newer Renault Megane and was disappointed to find I was no longer receiving traffic updates. The difference? The Megane's windscreen has a UV filter coating which blocks the signal. A few weeks ago I managed to pick up traffic on one occasion in west London - presumably I was driving past the transmitter at the time.

Wondering now whether the traffic aerial can be extended to boost the signal received...

I've had this receiver attached to my Garmin streetpilot C510 since Christmas and I am always getting traffic updates. Generally they are pretty spot on and it's helped me a lot in my frequent journeys on the motorways in the south.
In fact, after carelessly breaking the adaptor I am just about to purchase another one.
